TOPIC: component type templates

component type templates 16 Aug 2010 12:37 #7696

Hello,
I am just curious to know whether component type templates are allowed
by the current ttcn-3 standard.
It is nowhere directly specified and at global scope it does not appear
to make sense anyway.
The only reference in the spec about component type templates is an
indirect one (section 15.3 Global and local templates):

"a) Templates may be specified for any TTCN-3 type defined in table 3
except for port and default types.
Templates may also be specified for any procedure signature."

Allowing template parameters of component types gives also a hint that
such templates might exist.
Can anyone help me on this topic?

thanks in advance,

Uwe Truetsch

Hello

Although global templates for component types may not be sensible
(unless maybe in a parameterized template which computes the template
from the parameters), templates on components are for instance usable
for checking the sender of a received message (either via the
from-clause or with a match-operation).

function f(template ComponentType acceptableSenders) runs on MtcType {
p.receive(X) from acceptableSenders;
}
