TOPIC: Verdict on testcase.stop

Verdict on testcase.stop 26 Sep 2011 07:27 #7766

Dear all,

I have a question on the verdict set by the testcase.stop operation. Pa= rt 1
(core language) of the spec 4.3.1 states the following

21.2.1: The test case stop operation causes an immediate stop of the en= tire
test case behaviour with the verdict "error".
6.1.0 d: verdicttype = { pass, fail, inconc, none, error } (5 values)

while part 6 (TCI) of the spec says

7.1.1.3.1: When the testcase.stop operation is invoked from the TE, the
overall verdict should be set to USER_ERROR.
10.5.3.16: verdicts are { NONE, PASS, INCONC, FAIL, ERROR, USER_ERROR }
(6 values)

Should the verdict be set to ERROR or to USER_ERROR by the testcase.sto= p
operation?
Could this be clarified in the spec?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Kind regards,

Corinna

Verdict on testcase.stop 26 Sep 2011 10:41 #7768

Dear Corinna

Thank you for your email. Last year, we decided to add testcase.stop and = to
realize it in TCI by a sequence of operations. Please see t-ort.etsi.org/view.php?id=5174 and in particular

" STF decided not to add additional CH operations as the testcase.stop =
functionality can be realized by the TE by setting error verdict, = getting the
MTC and stopping the MTC.

In order to make that visible in the TLI log, an additional verdict = constant
is introduced: FATAL representing user-generated test case = errors.

In addition, the optional parameter of the testcase.stop goes to the = reason
parameter of the TLI setverdict operation."

If you like a clarification being added to TTCN-3, please submit a CR. =
However, you are right: test system error or user error are not being =
differentiated on language level, but can be seen in the logs only.

Thank you in advance

Ina
