TOPIC: TTCN-3 forum status

TTCN-3 forum status 06 Oct 2006 07:31 #6953

Hi,

I just got a question regarding the status of the TTCN-3 forum...

At this point (and already since months) ETSI has been taking the TTCN-3 forum
site down as it was subject to some severe spam attacks over the
summer.
It seems that the IT people here have no idea how they could guard the forum
effectively against such attacks.
Therefore from an ETSI point of view we are back to the mailing list idea for an
unknown period of time.

We would like to propose that if people would like to have a TTCN-3 forum that
should be someone else.
So are there any volunteers? We would be more than happy to link it from our web
site.

Salut,
stephan

The solution to this problem is to have a forum that only allows members to
post. When a new member signs up, the admin of the forum verifies that this is a
real person by exchanging an e-mail of some sort. Only then is a username and
password assigned to that user.

I am currently admin in three forums and this works like clockwork as
spamers/agents/robots have no way to get into the forum and post. It is a very
simple and effective solutions.

Best regards,

Fedde
