TOPIC: TciValueDifferenceList

TciValueDifferenceList 11 May 2009 06:14 #7571

Various functions in TCI-TL receive a parameter of type
TciValueDifferenceList, but the spec says almost nothing about that
value means. I'm trying to figure out the intended semantics - any help
is much appreciated:

I.e. does it just document that a template didn't match - in that case,
why is it a list? Should it document a path from the root of a template
to the mismatch? Or a path within the value? Should template matching
continue to find mismatches even after the first one was found (even
though the end result is already determined, as far as the TE is
concerned), in order to fill the TciValueDifferenceList parameter?

Hi Michael,

when TLI was designed, the majority felt that enabling lists of
mismatches is more efficient then having single mismatches only. To have
several elements is however an option only, you do not have to use it.
