TOPIC: TTCN-3 list

TTCN-3 list 20 Sep 2001 15:52 #5957

Please find attached the list of TTCN-3 issues that was compiled (and to a
great extent addressed) during the first session of STF187 (weeks 18, 19).
The output of this work session was the proposals distributed to the TTCN-3
list in July. The remaining 'To do' items will be resolved during the
final work session (weeks 42, 43). The output of this session will be a
mock-up of the *proposed* edition 2. Which, of course, will need to be
approved by MTS.

The list will be complemented with issues raised on the TTCN3 mailing list
during the summer, if necessary, and the first task of the STF (Monday 15th
October) will be to finalise the contents of the list.

For this first phase of maintenance (May - October 2001) MTS had not
requested a rigid procedure for handling Change Requests (CRs). It was felt
that discussion on the TTCN3 list, with the responsibility for synthesis and
decision lying with STF187, would be the best way to easily address the
feedback that was bound to come as the first serious implementation of
TTCN-3 took place. However, it is becoming obvious that we now need to move
to a more formal (albeit slower) way of handling CRs.

Stability of the standard is a crucial issue for implementers and users
alike, as is transparency in the decisions being made. I therefore intend
to propose to MTS #33 in October that they define a formal procedure for
handling CRs in the next phase of maintenance. This will, of course, place
more responsibility on contributors and MTS alike, but I believe this will
be in the best interests of TTCN-3. Of course, all members of MTS are
welcome to bring their own proposals to the table so if you feel this is
important to you then please do so.

Regards
Anthony Wiles

Mister Wiles,

being on TTCN3 e-mail list I continue to receive e-mail concerning TTCN3
project.

Is it possible for you to erase me from the e-mail list in order for me
not to receive the e-mail concerning the TTCN3 project.

Thank you by advance and have a good day.

Nicolas Moulonguet.
